Valley Creek

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Afton Kitchen Remodel When our clients built their dream home in 1978, they included all the amenities: double ovens, DW, and gas cooktop and grill on a center island with an overhead stainless-steel ventilation system that handled all of their indoor cooking needs. But the overhead hood blocked sight lines throughout the kitchen and the dated dark oak-stained millwork and cabinetry made the room feel dim. Finally, in 2013 our clients decided it was time for an update. The cumbersome center-island hood was moved to an outside wall with direct ventilation to the exterior. The less-frequently-used wall oven and baking center were moved to the wall across the room. And the cooking island was replaced with an island prep station with storage for cookbooks and seating for two. Feeling visually adventurous, our client opted to go from darkly stained oak cabinets to European-style slab doors and drawers in an elegantly stained maple finish. The aesthetic is enhanced by dark green ubatuba natural granite countertops with a glass-tile backsplash reflecting a myriad of colors. Natural cork snap-together flooring tastefully complements the maple cabinetry and is resilient under foot. New and repurposed stainless-steel appliances complete the package.

Features Soft-close doors, full-extension drawers, and rollout accessories for ergonomic use. Custom maple cabinetry with European-style slab doors and drawers. Natural granite countertops, glass-tile backsplashes, and eco-friendly cork flooring.
